Welcome to the Sandhills Chapter of the Military Officers Association Website

Pearl Harbor Remembrance
The Village of Pinehurst will take a moment to remember the 2,403 United States citizens who were killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. A wreath will be placed at the Marshall monument in memory of lives lost and Pinehurst resident Roy S. “Swede” Boreen, one of the last living survivors of Pearl Harbor, will also be honored with a mayoral proclamation.   Marshall Park 11:00 a.m.

Our Chapter is primarily a member service organization. Through the volunteer efforts of our members and their financial contributions our mission is to:
  • Foster comradeship among our members by providing interesting, enriching, and informative events and activities.
  • Support veterans, especially those veterans in need, and team with other organizations with whom we have common interests in supporting veterans.
  • Provide services for members and their dependents and survivors in time of need.
  • Serve the community by planning and hosting the annual Memorial Day service and Veterans Day ceremony, and awarding scholarships to deserving high school seniors.
  • Protect the rights and interests of personnel of the Uniformed Services and their dependents and survivors
  • Promote the purposes and objectives of the Military Officers Association of America.

Our Chapter has decades of experience in community service and support of Junior ROTC detachments in Moore and surrounding counties here in North Carolina. Over the past several years we have built on that experience and focused our charitable efforts on assisting veterans here in Moore County. In the past two years we have raised over $40,000 for veterans in need.

We meet monthly and have a number of events throughout the year, including a Memorial Day Service, a Golf Tournament, and a Veterans Day Observance, among others. Our monthly luncheons or dinners are fun and include interesting programs. For those who are not already members of the Chapter and would like more information about the Sandhills Chapter of MOAA, please contact us at sandhills.moaa@gmail.com. We'd love to have you as our guest at our next luncheon or dinner.
